Cooking for CASA was a great event at a fantastic location, Café
Madison in Riverside, NJ. We were entertained by two-time Chopped Champion
Darius Peacock, who did an engaging presentation on world cuisine, growing up
in Brooklyn and the family influences on his career choice, and the culinary
insider’s view on several unique , tasting plate courses that were prepared
South Jersey Chef Jack Conner and his excellent staff.
Over $8500 was raised
, through proceeds from a Gourmet Silent Auction, ticket sales and
the generosity of a number of sponsors. For making this afternoon possible we
extend deep thanks to our lead sponsor, Brandywine Realty Trust, Sous Chef
sponsors Assemblyman Chris Brown, Debbi and Aldo Roldan, the Domestic
Violence Advocacy Center, Intercon Construction, and M Financial; and CASA Kids
Sponsors Dash Farrow LLP, Dewberry. Lynda Hinkles Law firm, Neuner and
Venttura.
And Special Thanks to Judy Rice, whose generosity and real love
for CASA came through again in her support of this event.
The CASA Kids 5K...Version 2011!
Almost any weekend from early spring to early summer you can count on a half dozen 10Ks, 5Ks or Walks being held within a 20-mile radius of one's town. This year The Fourth Annual CASA Kids 5K and Family Fun Run will doubtlessly compete with other such events. But ours is already known as one of the best-run events in the state, with a flat, fast course, great facilities and most of all, a great cause that drives everything.
This year, The CASA Kids 5K was held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the The Princeton Pike Corporate Center in Lawrenceville. The one-mile Fun Run started at 8:30 AM, and the USATF-sanctioned 5K kicked off at 9 AM sharp.
Race director was Bob Tona, founder and leader of the Run for the Vikings 5K in his hometown of South Brunswick.
The 2011 race again had the support of wide array of sponsors, including Silver Sponsor Mathematica, Bronze sponsors Bracco Diagnostics and Novo Nordisk, and Pacers Sponsors Nasstech Mechanical, NJ Manufacturers Insurance, Wilmington Trust, Sun National Bank and First Choice Bank.
